Reversing IBS E-Zine, Issue #004 — How Long to Heal IBS?
July 07, 2008
Introduction
Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a condition that can take quite a bit of time to reverse and heal. It not only requires you to dedicate your efforts in assisting your body, but it also requires alot of patience. Your lifestyle may need to change in order to accommodate the healing process within your body. However, remember that the best investment you can make in your life, is towards your health.
Reversal and Healing Duration Time
This will typically take anywhere from 3-9 months, however always remember that it depends on how dedicated you are in changing your lifestyle. This includes modifying your diet as well as scheduling the intake of herbal remedies/supplements into your daily schedule. The amount of sleep and your sleeping hours may need to change. If you are not already living an active lifestyle, this may slowly need to change as your body becomes stronger. You can rest assured that if you are very dedicated, you will see signicant improvements in your health in 3 months.
Changes in your Lifestyle
ReversingIBS.com has a wealth of information available to you and you’ll need to slowly incorporate the changes that are necessary dependent on your situation such as the symptoms that you experiencing. For example, if you experience bloating and gas in your stomach/intestines, search for the topic “Known IBS Symptoms” and this will point you in the right direction.
Diet changes however, are important whether you are healthy or not. The IBS Diets provided as well as my IBS recipes are meant to help strengthen your body by introducing healthy foods into your system. It is well-known that fast food products are detrimental to your health since it contains many types of perservatives and it does not contain any enzymes in the products in comparison to raw food products.
Allergy Tests
An allergy test will also be very useful as this will tell the truth about the products that your body is reactive to. Once you know them, you would need to avoid these foods in order to help your immune system to strengthen. Foods that you are allergic to (called allergens), provokes your body to release antibodies. The antibodies combined with the allergens create complexes that are normally removed by the liver and spleen. However continuous ingestion of the allergens, causes a build up of complexes that deposits in your body tissues resulting in inflammation. The # 1 rule is to stay away from these allergens for a period of 3 months so your body has time to recuperate prior to re-introducing them. The first step is to set up an appointment with your doctor to perform a food allergy test.
